In a world that gives us the computer virus, 419 scams and fraudsters the need to send email in both a secure manner and in such a way as to confirm the identity of the sender has never been more important.

These needs were originally solved by the MIT researchers Rivest, Shamir and Adleman when they released to the world their RSA algorithm based on Public and Private keys. (For a brief explanation of PKI click here)

Certainly the system of certificates and keys is highly secure but there are many practical problems with implementation and use. The patented system is a true dual-factor environment and extremely secure. To hack the message the attacker needs to intercept the email and also have physical access to the mobile phone. This requires both hacking ability and physical theft and even that assumes that Alice has not reported her phone stolen and had it shut off.
